Traveling alone: 10 tips for traveling alone
Traveling alone: 10 tips for traveling alone

Hello readers of my blog.

Here are my top 10 tips for those who want to go solo traveling

1. Come while it's light.

-----------------

-----------------

As much as possible, it is recommended to travel and arrive at a new place while it is still light. This way, you will have more information about where you are, whether you can read signs, and better orientation.

Arriving in a new place after dark may seem unsafe because there are not many people on the street and stores and offices are closed, so asking for directions and the like may be more difficult.

In such a situation, it's a good idea to make an appointment with the place where you're going to spend the night to be picked up by a cab. This way, you'll be sure to drive with a reliable driver and you won't have to drive in the dark to the right address.

2. Your first night on your solo journey.

Ensure that you reserve a room for at least the first night of your new location. Maybe not too far from the bus stop or the airport where you're going to arrive. Being lost in a new location and not knowing where east and west are, how to hail a cab, or even where to stay the night is not a nice situation.

3. Map and address.

Downloading the most significant ones is advised while traveling alone. travel-related apps. If you don't have the option, snap screen shots of the address you need to go to on your phone using the map so you can always know where you are. Turn on the "Offline map" feature on your phone. Additionally, confirm that the address of your house is accurate and complete both on your phone and on paper or in a notebook.

This way, you will have important information in case your cell phone runs out of battery or you need to ask for directions. Double check the address. What are the main attractions nearby? Monuments? Major main streets?

4. Currency.

It's wise to have some cash in local currency with you when you travel abroad. If you are outside of major cities, you cannot be certain that you will always be able to use a credit card. In public transportation and taxis, cash is typically preferred.

Travel with at least US dollars if you can't exchange them for local currency before your solo trip. Compared to Danish kroner, these are frequently simpler to exchange for local cash.

You already stand out as a tourist, hiker, or woman, therefore you don't absolutely need to carry a few thousand kroner in cash to indicate that you are carrying valuables.

5. Cash and cards.

When you travel alone, you can be more susceptible to theft. Thus, constantly make sure that your cash is distributed throughout your body and in your belongings. If you have more than one credit card, the same holds true.

Thus, my recommendation is to always have cash and credit cards on you, in your carry-on bag, and in a roomy travel backpack.

6. Trust yourself.

It's crucial to follow your instincts when traveling by yourself. Have faith in your judgment and in yourself. When you arrive somewhere new, defenseless and bewildered with your luggage and looking around, there are usually a few amiable persons who will offer their assistance and "good" service.

Your personal safety and having a safe travel are the most crucial factors. The cost does not always dictate the best route from point A to point B. Trust your instincts when it comes to people. Refuse to agree if it makes you uncomfortable.

Always be aware of your possessions, and avoid fidgeting with cash or phones in public areas where you might be observed by many people. To make yourself more comfortable while creating a view, lean against a wall or take a seat somewhere and store your luggage. Both strangers and locals may ask you whether you are traveling alone.

7. Choose means of transportation with care in your solo travels.

You have a few possibilities if you haven't already made arrangements for someone to pick you up from a certain transportation provider, a shuttle from your accommodation, or anything similar. When you get to the airport, I advise you to either take a conventional taxi and haggle over the fare before boarding, or purchase a One Shuttle ticket outside the airport before departing the airport.

Because there are frequently a lot of drivers at the airport gates, you must purchase a ticket before departing the airport. It's not always simple to discern what will work best here or to say no thanks.

Know your options ahead of time if you need to change cars along the trip. Before boarding a taxi, always confirm the fare to your destination if you want to take one. Get an Uber if Wi-Fi is available nearby.

If it's walkable, make sure you know the address and route in full before you leave so you don't have to struggle with your printed maps and phone while you're on your way. Put on well-made, supportive footwear.

8. Find other campers.

It's common to encounter other visitors who are traveling alone while you travel. Naturally, it depends on your location and the season in which you are visiting. Sometimes, when you go somewhere, at the bus stop, at the airport, or on the bus itself, you can already be noticing other travelers. Frequently, they are traveling just as much as you are.

If it seems appropriate, get in touch with them, find out where they're heading, and you might have to split an Uber or taxi fare. In this manner, having a companion can make both parties feel comfortable. It saves you money to do this. Perhaps a fellow traveler might offer some insightful guidance or suggest a destination.

9. Report your arrival.

Inform the property of your expected arrival time if you think it would be helpful for them to know when you will arrive at your location.

Provide your cell phone information to them as well, so they can reach you in the event that anything changes. In order to thank you for your kind care and assistance, you may also schedule an appointment with the location from which you are traveling. This way, you can contact them to let them know when you arrive.

10. Combine individual trips with group trips.

New place, new city, new country. What to do? It is always a good idea to buy a tour where you find yourself. This way you will get the most important information about the place, the sights, the things to consider. You're sure to meet others on the tour who are also traveling alone that you can talk to.

And who knows; maybe you'll agree to meet up and have dinner together or something completely different.

Have fun traveling solo!
