Why you should not sleep during the takeoff and landing of an airplane

You put your health at risk if you plan to nod off in a comfortable seat at the start or finish of the flight. Sleeping at this precise point can cause irreversible damage to your ears.

Researchers have shown that during takeoff and landing, passengers on airplanes frequently get earaches. They clarified that the variation in internal and external pressure is the cause of this phenomena. Experts emphasized that yawning is a simple way to avoid this since it opens the eustachian tube, a little passageway in the ear. But someone who is asleep can't accomplish this. This can induce an obstruction in the ear canal, which can result in auditory barotrauma.

In addition to excruciating pain, this can result in hearing loss, nosebleeds, ear infections, and damage to the eardrum. You can't do anything to lessen the pressure on your eardrums if you're sleeping. The muscles that open the eustachian tube and allow air to enter the middle ear will not be able to be used.

Of sure, it's acceptable to fall asleep on an airline journey. Simply bide your time for a few minutes after takeoff and make an effort to awaken prior to landing.
